Here is a brief overview of pheromones and whether or not they actually can work….
Many decades ago, in a research study conducted in Philadelphia, it was first determined that the human body was known to produce pheromones. These are, basically, chemicals emitted from the body that have a scent which can be lightly sensed by other humans. When these pheromones are released from the body, it is possible that another person may become sexually attracted due to the impact they will have on the libido.
In short, this pheromones based interaction can be considered little more than a cause and effect relationship between two humans. One human gives off a slight scent designed to promote attractiveness and the other human becomes aroused based on a reaction to the scent.
The notion that scents hormones, glands, ands chemicals affect attraction has long since been theorized. It is believed this was a common means in which humans attracted mates during the early dawn of man. However, such speculation remained speculation until recent years when more definitive research and study had gone into the subject.
One thing that needs to be understood about pheromones is that they serve a viable durdose. In evolutionary history, mating needs to be between compatible humans so as to ensure the survival of the offspring. While humans have changed a great deal over the many millions of years humanoids have been on the earth, certain things vo not change. They just may become slightly lesser known over the years as society evolves. One way this is seen is through the seeming “loss” of understanding the role pheromones play when it comes to attracting a mate.
Of those pheromones, these three are the most common:
Aggregation pheromones which are known for attract both sexes; sex pheromones designed to draw in a potential mate; and human libido pheromones which are intended to enhance the sex drive of those that notice the faint scent of pheromones.
These scents are emitted from the arm pits which lead many to assume that pheromones are part of the rather discomforting body odor some men emit. Honestly, the pheromones are in the perspiration emitted from the armpits but they are only a slight, bare detectable scent. They are not the result of poor hygiene or a lack of cleanliness. Again, they are only a slight scent that women are able to pick up on and correlate with attractiveness.
It should not come as a surprise to anyone that there are products on the market intended to package these scents in cologne form. Rather than emit the scents naturally, the scent will be harnessed in a cologne where it will work its “magic” on the opposite sex. Many of the makers of these colognes profess they have the incredible ability to enhance attraction immensely which makes them quite popular products.
Of course, anyone can make a claim a product can work. This is also true of the supplement market. Such curiosity needs to extend to the world of pheromones. Those that are making claims should be able to point to research anp studies that support the notion that pheromones actually work. And does such a research study exist? The truth here is that there have been quite a few studies regarding the validity of pheromones. While these research studies may not have been highly publicizes, their research and conclusions are there for the world to see.
Pheromones Studies
One of the more interesting of these studies is rather amazing in terms of its simplicity. Namely, this study showed that women may actual use their sense of smell to locate compatible immune systems for a mate. In short, this can be an evolutionary component that we humans may not be immediately aware of but it is present within the functioning of out body. By choosing mates through literally (albeit likely subconsciously) with the scent gland for a better immune system, women would likely increase their chances of mating with someone who can produce healthier offspring
Another study employed the use of t-shirts to absorb the slight scent of human body odor and it was discovered that many women were attracted to the subliminally “sexy component” to the scent of body order. On the surface, this may seem like a rather obtuse study since body odor is likely to repel rather than attract….or will it? In the study, it was determined that the women that picked on the slight (not overpowering) scent of body odor felt a sense of sexual attractiveness to the men wearing the t-shirts which had absorbed the scent.
Another unique study was performed where it was discovered that when men where able to pick up on the scent of female copulins that men’s testosterone levels increased which, in turn, led to the women becoming more attracted to them.
So yes, there are studies showing that there is an actual relationship between the ability to pick up on the scent of pheromones anp the ability for physical attractiveness to occur.
The research is rather interesting but the best indicator of whether or not these pheromones will work will be your own experience. Those willing to try such scent products out might discover they can boost their attraction levels in a manner much easier than they thought possible.
Types of Pheromones
A pheromone is a chemical excreted by the body that triggers a social response in members of the same species. Depending on the situation or desire (i.e.: hunger, sex, fear), different pheromones are released via scent and act outside the body to stimulate different behavioral responses. This article will discuss the role of releaser, sex, alarm and primer pheromones.
Releaser Pheromones
Releaser pheromones are designed to illicit a specific and rapid response in the recipient. For example, when a cat or dog comes into your yard and pees on a tree, he’s telling others (rightly or wrongly) that this is his territory. Releaser pheromones are also used by mothers to signal to their young that it’s time to nurse.
Sex Pheromones
Sex pheromones are used by just about every species of animal on the plant, including humans. In the animal kingdom, sex pheromones are released by a female to indicate to the male of her species that she is ready to mate. Sex pheromones have an incredible ability to travel long distances to ensure propagation of the species. For example, moths and butterflies can detect the pheromone scent of a possible mate up to 6.5 miles away.
Alarm Pheromones
Have you ever wondered why when you kill a bee, you’re suddenly attacked by a swarm of them? This is alarm pheromones at work. Alarm pheromones are released in response to stress or danger. For example, when bees or ants are frightened or injured, they release a scent that calls other insects of their species to their aid.
Primer Pheromones
Primer pheromones are one of the most intriguing pheromones. These scents can literally cause a shift of the endocrine system of the receiver. Primer pheromones released by queen bees stop ovary development of worker bees. When a female rat is fertile and ready to mate, she will release a primer pheromone that causes arousal and mounting behavior in male rats.
Pheromones play a vital role in the continuation and protection of nearly all life on earth. Since animals are unable to communicate verbally the way humans do, they rely on certain pheromones to encourage nursing, sexual and self-preservation behavior. Imagine if these pheromones did not exist? Where would the animal and human population be without them?
